Looking for MTB Race Coaching

I am thinking about getting some coaching sessions to find out why I am not getting any faster. Thinking of going with Torq to have a full assessment and work out a training plan for next seasons. Anyone been with them? Did it help? Any other people I should look at? Mainly into long distance MTB racing (Kielder/12 hour races), but would also like to be able to get out of being stuck in the mid table of the results for 2/4 hour enduros.

I don't think you can go far wrong with Torq guys... However it all comes down to time, committment and of course money.

Take for example one of the decent riders who posts on here, Njee, he averages approx 190bpm for a 2 hour race.... Now.... that's simply why he's quick..he's above the max of most humans for 2 hours...

IT's not necessarily about being 'better trained' but simply by being uber fit.

To counteract that... a mate of mine is harder to beat than he once was, simply by improving his XC skills and not his fittness...

So... it's a bit of both.

And how do you get uber fit........by training........so it is about being better trained. Everyone has a certain level of natural talent but you have to train your ass off to maximise it, most probably won't because of other life commitments.

To the OP, have heard good things about Torq, also have a look at Sportstest.

Having a high HR does not mean you are fit/fast.

The reasons he's quick is because he can put more watts through the pedals than most, not the fact that he can average x heart rate.

There are racers on the world cup circuit who can't even reach 190bpm that could rip all but a few's legs off.
