Fitting a front mech to a frame with no cable guides

So, my knackered legs have decided that they can no longer cope with the 1x9 setup (combined with it's tiny size) on my orange, so while I save for a better fitting frame I want to go back to 3x9. Thing is there are no cable stops for a front mech (it's a DJ bike at heart) I could use a full length gear cable and zip tie it to the frame, but I'm stuck once I reach the mech. Has anyone any tips on how bodge a stop? Anyone else tried this? Or am I just going to have to man up till a new frame lands at my feet?

You can buy clamp on cable stops. Problem solvers make one.

The only issue you may have is a non standard seat tube diameter.
