Rear Shock - Help needed!

I have a Merida 800-D 2008 full suspension (frame size L - 19inch) The rear Suntour Epicon shock is broken (fully collapsed and will not extend) and I need to replace it. I would ideally like to upgrade to a Fox or Rockshox (or any other that is recommended) I want to spend around £250.
I have contacted Merida directly and asked that type and more importantly the correct size shock to replace it with for my frame size and body weight (18 stone) They have been unable to help me.
Can anyone recommend a good rear shock for my needs? Any help appreciated!
Richard

You will need to find out the shock length eye to eye (un-compressed) and the shock stroke length...if the above fits it's a good buy..if not ebay.0

You need to find out the correct eye-to-eye(i2i) and the correct stroke(50mm/57mm etc).Fitting the wrong size i2i,(especially too long) can cause frame damage.
Contact Merida again and ask them specifically those measurements.Your weight isn't really an issue as you put more air in(if it's an air shock) or get a stiffer spring if it's a coil shock.0 -
You still need the stroke length..(piston into body)
Here are some 190mm

Hi Guys,
Thanks all for the advice.
I will contact Merida again and ask specifically for the ETE and Stroke size.
DCR00 - I will contact you directly if your shock is a suitable size. How old is the shock and what condition is it in?
Cheers,

Or have a look in the FAQs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

i bought it a few months ago and have only used it 4 times. When i got it i replaced the seals and the fluid. Not sure on the year of manufacture TBH; the Woman i bought it off was selling her ex-BF's bike stuff on eBay, so couldn't give me any details. It works fine though.
I have it on eBay just now on a 3 day listing. No bids yet, but there are a few watching. Let me know.0
