    Good deal for the retailer, if their liability is limited to replacement of bike plus damaged parts. No wonder the manager has been polite.

    I don't really understand some of the sentiment here, if you sell something it should be correctly assembled and safe to use. If it isn't and someone gets injured expect to pay. I'm not one to claim PI's myself having been knocked off motorbikes by careless drivers a few times, but I would definitely expect some compensation from a corporation who's negligence resulted in my injury.

    I hope you got your wrist looked at - schaphoid breaks are easy to miss and result in long term problems if not properly treated.

    I don't think its unreasonable to expect a new bike not to need checking by the buyer. I had to practically rebuild my son's carrara after it had been built by halfords. QR loos, bars not straight, breaks not adjusted, gears not index.
