Cross tyre suggestions

After some advice regarding tyres for my kinesis crosslight cx.
Just bought it 2nd hand and it came with some very badly worn out Kenda small block 8's. I'm after some new ones and 80% of riding will be on roads wit a bit on bridleways and gravel paths. Aso 2 or 3 times a year it's going to be used for off road duathlons but even those are mostly ridden in gravel and wood chipping paths.
I'm on a budget and will be hunting around for a bargain but basicically looking for suggestions of decent tyres around the 15-20 Mark that have decent rolling on roads but an handle a bit of gravel and loose stuff without any problems.
Been looking around and found some more Kenda small block 8 and some bontager cxr and can get eier of those for about a tenner each, any opinions or other suggestions ??

Small block 8s aren't really suited to UK conditions - fine for dry, sandly stuff but pack too easily in mud and small knobs squirm on tarmac. I suggest you look at a semi-slick tyre like a WTB Interwolf (now discontinued) which has a fine tread in the centre but with side knobs to help give traction on looser/soofter. I've been running a pair of 38mm since early summer on my SS CX and have only punctured once (50kph descent on the Southdowns and fist-sized lumps of flint). This includes two traverses of the Southdowns Way, a huge amount a single-tracking along flinty / stoney trails - but pumped-up to 80 psi will roll quite smoothly on tarmac.
If you want something very tough, try Schwalbe Landcruisers, but they can be tricky to fit.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Some good prices on Swalbes on ebay . Or look for the Raleigh/CST Pioneer. A bit basic but works really well. I have had a pair for a good 3 years doing a lot of gravel work. Maybe 2.5/3 thousand miles and still plenty of tread.0

I have conti speed kings on my CAADX 5 2012 and I had my highest placing so far. Great off camber predicability but do clog in the sloppy stuff (clear very quick mind)Swveeeet¡¡¡0
