Hi all, I have just purchased a Saracen Tufftrax Comp 2011 for the Wife for Xmas for £240 which has just been delivered. But have noticed that Halfords now have the Carrera Vengeance on sale for £275.

My questions are: Is the Vengeance worth the extra £35 over the TT and is it worth the hassle of sending the Tufftrax back in exchange?

Cheers Chris

Yes and more besides, better fork, better drivetrain and while Tektro io discs are far from good, they at least mean the bike is fully disc ready for future upgrades.

  • Does this mean that it is Disc Ready?

"a disc-ready back end. The economics of retro-fitting disc brakes to a £259 bike aren’t all that compelling (especially since there are no mounts on the fork), and they’re mainly there because Saracen also offer a disc-equipped Tufftrax and use the same frame for both. But the mounts are there if you need them"

    Thanks Chris

The Carrera is better, and yeah, really worth the 35 quid more. Is it worth the hassle, I don't know how Halfords operate at all..

And it is disc ready, there are mounts on the frame and the fork (as I can see on the pic), but this still means that you need disc hubs, and disc brakes. (This is for the TT, the Carrera has disc brakes already obviously.)
