MTB Holiday Europe - Advice/Suggestions?

Hi All
I'm looking at going somewhere in Europe next September for a 7-10 day MTB holiday with my mate who's of the same ability (It'll be our first MTBing abroad experience so can't wait!!). Mrs is off on holiday with the girls so have a pass for some time :-)!! Not sure whether to go guided or not. Has anyone done either and got any advice/mega thumbs up/horror stories? Any unexpected pro's/con's to the way you did it?
Not decided on a specific location (any suggestions?), and probably looking at driving so distance from airports isn't an issue. Anyone got any routes that are a MUST do? or DON'T BOTHER kind?
Usual riding spots are XC based, everything in Mid-North Wales, Gisburn, Whinlatter, Grizedale. Have done Kielder, a few of the 7 Stanes and a few in South Wales so happy with that kind of thing.
Both ride a Full Sus bikes and have pad's if trails require it. Also have GPS (UK maps though), so could chuck on some GPS traces.
Not bothered if it is base style where you ride to/from same hotel everyday or if it involves moving around to different ones.
Thanks for all your help in advance.
Jamie

TrailAddiction runs a chalet at Les Arcs in the French Alps. They are open until Sept 15, 2012. I rode with them during the summer of 2010 and it was some of the best riding I have ever done. Miles and miles of alpine singletrack, stunning scenery, and great food. Check out the website, www.trailaddiction.com for more info.0
