XT 10 speed...

Hi, Can you use a Shimano XT 10 speed FC M-770 as a 9 speed chainset?
I have recently bought one on the spur of the moment. But I realised that I am running mega9 components on the rest of the drive train and don't have the cash to change all of them.
Please help...

    Ok Nick Thanks for the info. Obviously would be better getting a 9 speed XT chainset then?

    Pretty sure FC M-770 is the 9 speed version?

    When dyna-sys first came out they used the 9 speed chasis with new rings, since then there's the proper updated model 780.

    Looked on ChainReaction and FC- M770 is the 10. The 9 speed is just M770. Is the 780 a 9 speed?

    no. the spider on the 780 look different and are 10 spd. post a pic and we'll know.
