Bottom bracket play - Boardman Comp 2010
Ive noticed a clicking noise from the bottom bracket of my Boardman recently so having a closer look at it, I've got play, on the left arm particularly. Its an Elita Truvativ crank I believe and I havent got the BB tool to remove it. Is it a case of replacing the bearings, tightening up or replacing the whole BB? Its not even a year old yet and hasnt seen a great deal of use (under 1000 miles)

Not owning a Boardman I haven't really been paying attention, but I think there's been an ongoing issue with some BB cups being assembled without grease, and having to be reinstalled properly or even replaced under warranty. Somebody will I hope be along in a moment to tell you more...0

Well I took the crank arm off and pushed the spline out and everything looks ok, its well greased etc but the races themselves feel gritty and not smooth as they should be. These things are sealed I think so its a case of replacing the whole cartridge. I've contacted halfords to see if there's a case of warranty but I suspect that they'll say no.0

Truvatix/SRAM GXP's are probably the worst for reliability - if the bearings are shot, there's little you can do except replace them. Bearings are generally not covered under warranty.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
