How do I find someone's address UK?

Hi.

I have to find a home address for someone in the NW of England.
I've searched 192.com and 118118 but have drawn a double blank thus far.

Are there other resources that I can try with no financial expenditure?
Are there sites where I need to spend a little to get the information?

BT used to have an online directory, not sure if its still going and does depend if they are in the phone book too but maybe a useful place to look??
