Hi
I will be upgrading my drive-train shortly on my commencal mata 55.3 but have concerns with gearing and double and bash compatibility.
I was going to purchase the SLX double and bash x9 group-set but it is nearly the same price as the SLX x10 and there is limited stock. i was thinking about purchasing the x10 speed and taking the large chain-ring off and replacing with a E Thirteen bash.

1: Is this possible and is it fairly easy.
2: Will there be a problem with gearing ratio and what would you recommend.

The drive-train ratio i was using was 11-32 cassette and 22x32x44 Truvativ fire x. I have a hope hub so i don't think there will be a problem with the cassette.

I hope this is not too confusing and any help would be gratefully.

Maybe nearly the same price but if you bike is 9speed now, factor in price of, Bash guard, 10 speed shifter, 10 speed cassette, 10speed mech.

I use Slx 9speed double and the gearing gets me up and down everthing with no problems.

Go with 10 speed then, you may find the middle ring a bit small if its a 32T, my double is 36T but not sure if it needs to be on 10 speed.

  • Still only get min 11t on 10 spd cassettes so makes no difference if 9 or 10 spd. It's the new 36t rear that helps with double setups.
