Speedplay Platformers - how good are they?

I've just ordered a set of Speedplay Zero pedals and I'd really like the option of converting them to platforms for some activities where I want to wear walkable shoes. The Speedplay Platformers look like the ideal solution but I'm wondering if they're comparable to a normal platform that I could happily use regularly or if they're a poor substitute and only fit for emergencies.
My main concerns are:
- They look a bit slippery, is there enough grip in the dry/wet?
- Are they secure and robust enough to get out of the saddle and put some power through them?
Feedback from anyone who's used them would be very helpful in deciding whether to get these.
Thanks!
Aidan

They don't sound wonderful: http://cozybeehive.blogspot.com/2010/06 ... ormer.html
Old review mind you, maybe things have improved0 -
The previous version seems to have had some serious problems alright but as far as I know they were redesigned about a year back. That's why I'm interested in feedback. I don't know much about how the new ones perform.
