I like the fsr, remember when they first came out. Why not get an air shock on the back? You should be able to pick up one pretty cheap. For Sale:

Rear shock will change when the entire back end is converted to BETD linkage and needle bearings :-)
Need to convert the rear first as i may need a longer shock when i have the extra travel.1999 Specialized FSR Elite MAX Backbone.

I love the Boardmans, That 203 rear brake must be really powerful 8)0

I killed the stock 160mm ones and figured i would upgrade them a little, maybe i went too far, the rear is overkill to be honest, but its nice to know its probably not going to give up like the 160 ones did.
You do get used to the power though, and they are quite easy to use once you get the hang of them.1999 Specialized FSR Elite MAX Backbone.

Shorter stem fitted to the FSR
Rides a LOT nicer now, still feels a little sluggish, but the tyres are not the fastest rolling ones i have seen.
And an old bloke down the street called in with my parcel (the stem) as the postie had been while i was out, his bike ride buddy was now dead, and he would like to give me his bike as he can no longer ride it due to his wife getting dementia,
"ohh i will definitely have a look at it"
"i would like you to have it, it needs to go to somebody who will use it, do what you like with it, it may have some good parts on it for you"
"is it a road bike?"
"yes!"
"ok then!"
At this point i thought i was going to score for another lush retro project, maybe a nice Dave Yates frame that could be restored, road bikes are a bit gay but it would be handy to have one in the man-cave for the odd time in the summer, brilliant!
He called around 20 mins later and gave me this.
WTF
BSO
Even the missus "Revolution Trailfinder" has a better spec than this POS, bolt in wheels, 3x5 drivetrain and the weakest frame i have ever seen, although it is a blatant copy of some of the old Gary Fisher frames.
Not even sure what i should do with it, i`m hoping the jockey wheels from the rear mech will fit the FSR XT mech as the bushes are going in it, the rest i dont have a clue (suppose the wheels could be spares for the missus`s bike after i swap the axles lol!)1999 Specialized FSR Elite MAX Backbone.

Best thing to do with that is e-bay it.
Like the FSR. I have a 98 FSR Comp, which is in need of some TLC at the moment. Up until May it was being used 2 or 3 times a week, but is now in need of a new BB & ideally new forks and chainset.
I need to get off my lazy backside and sort it out (bit worried it might make my Zesty feel a bit sluggish! )0
