Shimano SLX vs XT

I want to replace the SRAM shifters & mech on my bike with Shimano, nothing wrong with SRAM but I prefer Shimano.
I will get XT shifters as they are a bit nicer than SLX but for the rear mech is XT worth the extra money over SLX?
It's on a freeride bike so strength is worth more than weight and the ability to not jump around when things get rough is also important. Has to be 9 speed.
Also any recommendations where I can get a good deal?

Not much in the rear mechs - XT is a bit better made and lighter, but the shifters will make more difference to feel.
Merlin had good deals, as do Rose Bikes.0 -
Rose had good deals until they sold out of all the 9 speed medium cage stuff. Will have a look at MerlinsTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I decided to put SLX on my 29er HT over XT and to be honest its been brilliant, not missed a beat. Its cheaper to replace too if you trash it.Niner Air 9 Rigid
