Shimano SLX vs XT

I want to replace the SRAM shifters & mech on my bike with Shimano, nothing wrong with SRAM but I prefer Shimano.
I will get XT shifters as they are a bit nicer than SLX but for the rear mech is XT worth the extra money over SLX?
It's on a freeride bike so strength is worth more than weight and the ability to not jump around when things get rough is also important. Has to be 9 speed.
Also any recommendations where I can get a good deal?

Not much in the rear mechs - XT is a bit better made and lighter, but the shifters will make more difference to feel.

Merlin had good deals, as do Rose Bikes.

Rose had good deals until they sold out of all the 9 speed medium cage stuff. Will have a look at Merlins

I decided to put SLX on my 29er HT over XT and to be honest its been brilliant, not missed a beat. Its cheaper to replace too if you trash it.
