Hi, i am after some new UST tyres for my 26" wheels, anyone got any suggestions ?, i currently have Maxxis high rollers (L.U.S.T), i am looking for a change, my riding is mostly XC and a bit of tarmac to reach these areas (not alot though).

Light and UST don't go together. Look at Tubeless Ready type tyres which are far lighter and functionally very similar - they need sealant, but most people use sealant in UST anyway.
Depends how light and fast you want really. Schwalbe Furious Freds are mentally fast, but have sod all grip! Racing Ralphs or Rocket Rons are excellent 3-season tyres which are good and fast as well. Ralphs are slightly tougher, slightly heavier, and have more tread on the shoulders, Rons have a bit more tread in the middle.0 -
Thanks, do Tubeless ready tyres work well on UST specific rims ? (Mavic)Lapierre Spicy 9160

As above they need sealant ( or may)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok, i dont mind the extra weight of UST tyres to much, so recommendations are still welcome :-)Lapierre Spicy 9160

You'll get a heavy tyre then :-)
My recommendations still stand, but a 2.1" Racing Ralph UST is knocking 200g heavier than the Tubeless Ready variant, significantly more expensive too. Seeing as you'll add all of 50g of sealant, and have added puncture protection I'd suggest it'd be madness to use the UST. YMMV of course.0 -

Hmm, i see, so they fit on no issues then ?, my rim is a Mavic 819, i have actually seen 2.1" Racing Ralph UST for £32 so price isnt an issue, that said i would like the Schwalbe tyres with the white stripe around the edge LOL(not available as UST), so this could be an option.Lapierre Spicy 9160 -
just out of interest....you are fitting these to a spicy?
I've blown a few tubeless readies off the rim on drops with my zesty. f you're going to use it for that sort of thing I would stick with UST.
But with regards to the sealing and general riding, the TR's work a treat0 -
Some tubeless ready tires need some sort of strip, even on a UST tyre as they may not have UST beads. UST doesn't need sealant, and the stiffer sidewalls can be an advantage to some.0

I have never mentioned fitting these to a spicy have i , so you think UST too, i am leaning towards them also, what UST have you tried ?Lapierre Spicy 9160 -
you didn't did you? sorry.. must be losing the plot!
UST I have run Race Kings, Mountain Kings, Maxxis Crossmark and now a rubber queen - all have been pretty good. I'm a bit belt and braces in that I still run with sealant.
In TR, I run Bontrager Mud X - Has been my stock tyre through the autumn and winter both this year and last. Works well with the UST rims and seats well. I had no problems until attempting some drops over at Winterfold on the North Downs. I think because they are quite low volume but also the lighter sidewall - both my mate and I within the space of 10 seconds blew the same tyre off different UST rims! He's also ripped through the sidewall of a TR Nobby Nic recently, just catching it awkwardly.0 -
Tubeless Ready Schwables have an excellent bead - some, notably Specialized 2Bliss can still be a disconcertingly loose fit. I'd have no qualms using the Tubeless Ready Schwalbes on a UST rim - they go up really well.
White stripe ones are often Cube OEM ones (although they do do them in Europe), and are often the older 'Evo' compound, which don't have a tubeless ready bead. They go up nicely on Stans rims (due to not being quite as b*stard tight as the TR ones), but not as well on UST rims.0
