Rigid Fork

I'm looking to change the fork on my HT 'commuter' - it's currently a bomber mx - to a rigid fork. I will be changing the stem also. As a mechanical novice, but wanting to have a go....how difficult/easy will this be? I have disc brakes so new fork is disc ready; I don't need to change bar set up at all....any specific tools I will need?

Couple of allen keys and it's easy. Only slightly tricky bit is getting a star nut in the new forks if there isn't one in there.
Easy way is to screw an old V brake pad in, and use that to position and hold it while you tap it in.
Otherwise just remove the top cap and stem, drop the old forks, stick the new ones up the hole, preload the headset bearings and tighten everything up.I don't do smileys.
