It depends on what you mean.

    What do you want l
    To listen to?

If you use a squeezebox you can get the UK stations that are not restricted. Like 6music.

Now there is also some thing else. You. Can get a UK VPN for about £5 a month. This can be used with a PC or an iPad/iPhone and will allow acces to the UK only stuff.

I player on the iPad is great when logged in.

No need for the computer to be on just make sure its connected to your Wi-Fi and your away, countless stations and good sound quality.

To answer the question, an internet radio connects to your router, not the PC, so you don't need the PC to be on.

They are a great idea, the first one I bought was a Roberts Stream 83i, easy to set up and as another poster has already said your PC does not have to be on. Sound quality is great the only prob with this model was that it only has a mains adaptor.
That was my excuse to buy another (for the garden) that has battery option, again a Roberts Stream 202 this time. Cant remember exact costs, but of the two I would prefer the 83i ( better controls and I think better sound).

    Thanks for answers.

We live in the UK but none of us is Brit or from an English speaking country, so radios from "home" would be desirable.

I won't be using a phone, my phone is too basic for this things, I'd have to buy a suitable radio. Also must upgrade to WiFi, at the mo all wired.

    Cheers,
  • You could look out for one of these. Ebuyer where selling them for £10 yesterday but they are now sold out, but you could keep an eye out to see if they come back into stock
