ok so ive made my first plunge from Shimano M520 SPD's (spuds ) and two bolt cleat MTB shoes and decided to get some road shoes and pedals

so i went for some Northwave Vertigo Pro SBS came earlier this week , lovely fit very happy. I went for simple Shimano R540 pedals which come with SM11 cleats , pretty standard i guess

All good so far but when i went to fit the cleats the width of the actual cleat is wider than the sole of the shoe

This may be perfectly normal but it just looks a bit weird, i assumed the width of the sole would be wider than the cleat

Can anyone out there advise or am i being a dumb ass

Thanks

it's normal for the cleat to overlap the width of the shoe in places - usually on the inside of the foot. Don't lose any sleep over it....
  • thanks for that , ive just found some vids on youtube with cleat overlapping sole of shoe mainly on the inside just as you said

    thanks again mate
