  • managed to get the tyre onto wheel after much effort and zip ties..unsure how i would change tube if i had flat though during a ride

But heres another problem, the tyre looks to be out of alignment and the reflective strip that runs along the outside of tyre isnt even around the wheel rim.

photo petty much sums it up

You will need to drop the pressure and rock the beads into place and then over inflate to seat.

  • i tried that and dropped pressure then rocked the tyre back and forth trying to get the reflective strip even along the tyre but didnt work...

Il try over inflating the tube and see if it "pushes "it self out, but i wondering if the tyres are out of alignment...?

Have tried a few times and from speaking to people some have said sinse my rockhopper wheels are "cheap" those tyres wont fit properly 100% onto them due to
The shelf is too high under the bead.

But i still got a feeling that the tyres on-one sent me are badly aligned so will call them on Monday and see what they say.,looking for more ideas though ofc untill then

  • Try lubricating the beads with soapy water prior to inflating. Push the bead off the shelf just like when the bloke in the video was checking that he hadn't trapped the tube and apply the soapy water in the gap using a brush (the ones you get in dustpan & brush sets should suffice). Then over-inflate until the beads seat (should go with a 'pop') then drop the pressure once they are on.

Even when you get them seated properly the reflective band may not be even all the way round, it's nothing to worry about.

A friend of mine had them coloured tyres on his road bike and the stripes weren't straight, it looked like his wheel was buckled but it was just an illusion made by the tyre.

my daughters kokua ballence bike has big apple tyres with that reflective band,, thhey the same the band aint straight....
  • Im pretty sure now they are "seconds" as on closer inspection they do seem to be out of alignment when off bike and even the reflective strip isnt used but measured it differs too.

in middle of speaking to on-one about this issue will let you know how it goes.
