Hi all, what rims are better for general riding (and home wheelbuilding)? Looking at the differences, the Halos are substantially lighter (455g vs 510g) and are sleeved rather than pinned. But the CXP's are a known quantity in terms of aluminium (6106 vs the Niobium T10 of the Aerorage (same as IRD Cadence Aeros?)) and may wear better. The CXP's also have eyelet reinforcements which means after a winter of cack, may be easier to true. Finally, the Aerorage's come in fluo yellow! What would folks pick?

Been running a pair of Aerorage rims for nearly 2 years on a fixed gear build with White ENO and Novatec hubs - they've been perfect. A tougher deeper section rim is a great place to start for a home-build too. I'm afraid Mavic rim quality ain't what it used to be and CXP22s are pretty low rent. FWIW Aerorages are made by Kinlin who make the IRDs too.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Thanks. So that sounds like CXP22's are worse than Aerorages. Will give Aerorages a try, nothing ventured nothing gained etc.

    CXP22's are simply awful.

I bought a set of Aero's yesterday. I was tempted to get the white ones but as they are going on my commuter I decided it would be a waste. Would have looked nice in summer though.
