Thinking of buying a carbon framed 29er for a XC Enduro event and this new Felt bike http://www.wiggle.co.uk/felt-nine-elite-29er-2012/
seems to offer very good value for money at £1700 when compared to the typical £2K+ price of equivalent models from Specialised, Scott, Whyte, Giant etc.

Obviously it comes a few pounds heavier as standard than the more expensive manufacturers, but I guess the various Felt components can be swapped-out for super light carbon branded stuff and the wheels can be converted to tubeless (or even replaced) to bring the weight down. Does that make sense, or is it better to invest in a more expensive machine to start with?

Anyone got one that could share their experience? Any specific recommended upgrades?

It looks "ok" does what it says on the tin, but its looks are really dull, i know that doesnt really matter but i would like people to know i'm riding a carbon bike LOL
for that price i cant think of a carbon 29er anywhere close in price to that unless you build one up?

I can't comment on the Felt - apart from saying it doesn't really rock my boat. You might want to consider the following -

    Giant XTC Composite 29er @ £1695
    and
    Cube Reaction GTC Pro 29 @ £1350

All 3 bikes look to be similarly specced.

http://www.cube.eu/es/29er/reaction-29-gtc-pro/ I'm liking that! bargain at that money and it looks faster than the felt although the felt is red which does mean its fast anyway.

The Cube is on my xmas list - but it's not going to be available in this country until Feb 2012 at the earliest - from what I've been told. Not sure I can wait that long - so if On One start doing the new scandal builds before then - then it'll have to be a scandal instead.
