Carmarthen for a night out?

I am planning a stag do for spring time. We are heading to Wales to do some whitewater rafting, clay pigeon shooting and, if I can squeeze it in, a quick bike ride. Seems the local town for the Saturday night will be Carmarthen.
Anyone have any recent experience or knowledge of the town for a night out? B
Oody miles from here, so not sure I can manage a reccy, (although come to think about it that's not a bad excuse for a ride weekend... :-) ) so trying to get an idea of the place by recommendations.
And yes I know, people get drunk there, people have fights there, people vomit in the street there... Same as everywhere else! Just looking for a decent dinner, a few respectable bars and somewhere fun for a middle-aged boogie!
Any help would be fantastic. Thanks folks, Jess.

Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.

Theres not an abundance of night life in Carmarthen, bur the Student union was always open to the general public, and whilst not your typical night out as it had live bands and a cheesy dj, it was a right hoot. Mrs G's sis went to uni in Carmarthen so ill ask her0

Not out there much anymore but it sounds to me like a respectable dinner would be Quayside Brasserie or maybe "Seventeen" in Queens Street. Then options : old fashioned sit down and chat Pub would be The Queens in Queen Street. There is a Weatherspoons in King Street if that's your thing. Wine Bar option is Diablos in Notts Square and you must pay a visit to Plume of Feathers (just down from Diablos) for a "different" pub experience (Your lounge is probably bigger). The Parrot at the end of King Street also has Live music often at the weekend. Then middle age dancing would be the cattle market that is Savannahs at the top of Lammas Street with the wonderful "Chick King" for some energy replacement on the way home. Be warned, London it aint!
Far more importantly, forget pubs, rafts and pigeons. Bring your bikes and go to Brechfa (only 20 mins from Carmarthen). Superb.0
