Ok guys, I need a lil' forum help.
I'm becoming increasingly interested in samba drumming, and have decided it'd be good for me to get involved, since I need some more social interaction, and a lot of my friends just moved out of London (yay.)..
I really like the rhythms and the syncopation, and the noise, and figure it looks pretty fun and social.
Unfortunately, I can only seem to find one samba drumming club/society thing in Waterloo @ the london samba school.
So firstly, are there any that are nearer to Fulham? Secondly, do/have any of you go/gone, and are they good fun?
I know I could go join a cycling club or something but a) I can often use my bike to get away from stuff and b) I rarely seem to find people at cycling clubs who aren't over 30 and settled. After all, I'm only 23..

Its all I ever need anyway.
True. But I like a lil face-to-face action, and some real time conversation that doesn't end in "GET F*CKED!" or "does it make you hungry?" would be good.0 -

I always got the impression in Taiko drumming it was men not wearing very much getting very sweaty, whereas Samba was music for women not wearing very much dancing.
I know which I prefer, but whatever floats your boat...0 -

And anyway Rick - don't write off the over-30's. I'm over 30 and I'm definitely still "with it" and I'm still "cool".0

No, but you make me hungry.0 -
You might try looking around Stockwell - there's a sizeable Brazilian community there. Also, I don't know if you work anywhere near Scrutton Street (EC2A), but when my office was based there in Zetland House, the basement cafe always had lots of flyers for Brazilian-related stuff, so you could pop in and ask them.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah!
