Hi,
I have slippy post syndrome. My clamp is about 6 years old and is a factory issue Bontrager. I have it on so tight its ridiculous. Was hoping a new clamp would solve the problem? If so what would you recommend? Its a 31.9mm.
Reason ive put it in here rather than the buying advice part is just incase its not the clamp thats at fault?
Thanks
Matthew

You could try some carbon assembly paste: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=26768
It helps improve grip between surfaces.0 -
Could just be bad tolerances, but the above paste should help.
Is it a QR or allen clamp?0 -
Its a QR. The tightening does help it. It has an annoying squeak too and is driving me insane.0

Is it the post or your seat squeaking?0 -
Put a bit of teflon lube (or other) between the clamp and the QR skewer, it will decrease the friction and enable you to screw it tighter than usual, and your post will not slip anymore. It works, I had that problem too.A much loved, Giant Trance X3 20100

Ill try the grease thing. That contact stuff sounds interesting, id like to try it. Im 90% sure its the post thats squeaking. However i cant get a thing out of the saddle. I will lube the rails tomorrow and take it for a spin to see if there is a difference.
Ive noticed that the lever arm for the QR is wearing away with each tighter application and also its squishing the point at which it beds in.0
