Replace Shox

Hello all, I have a trek 6700 with RockShox Pilot,
The forks seem to have alot of flex under braking recently, which needs addressing. As I only really ride on road and trails, I am thinking of replacing the forks for rigid ones.
Has anybody got suggestions for a cheap rigid fork replacement.
It currently measures around 460 from axle to crown, this is what I,m unsure about.
And am I likely to have to buy anything else?
How do you replace the star bolt?
I don't really know much about the front end?
(apart from take it to a shop)
Any advice appreciated, I would like a bash myself, only use the bike now and again, as I am a roadie!!!!
Thanks

Have a look at www.carboncycles.cc for Exotic forks, good value.
You don't replace the starnut - just fit a new one.I don't do smileys.

You'd need less that 460 - 425 would be ideal, or 445 for a more relaxed feel.0

you will also have to remove the crown race from the old forks to the new forks.
There is a guide in the FAQs and a few videos on you tube on how to do this without special tools. All relatively simple to do.0 -
Thanks for advice folks..
Regards forks, I,ve found out that Onza are local to me.
They are a reasonable price.
So, Onza FlyGuy for me I reckon.

Im not sure about the specific fork you are talking about but isn't Onza predominately a Trails and Jump bike manufacturer?
While the fork may be the correct size and fit the frame fine, it might be very stiff. The exotic carbon fork may offer a bit more compliance or reduce buzz a bit more.0
