Hi all, I am looking at upgrading the, to put it bluntly, pony! wheels on my stock Genesis Equilibrium, and have now got my eyes on some AMBROSIO EXCELLIGHT Rims laced to red PMP Hubs.
I cannot find out however if the PMP hubs are 9 speed compatible, the seller runs 10 speed Shimano but isn't sure they will accept 9 speed.
Does anyone know if they will take a 9 speed cassette and does anyone have experience of this pairing rim/hub.
Regards to all Jamie

Ask the seller if he has to run a spacer behind the largest sprocket on the cassette - if there is a spacer, it can accommodate 9 speed cassette.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

can't confirm for definite but I'd be very surprised if they are 10spd only.
Good hubs by the way. And good rims too.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
+1 - great combination agreed!
On here you can see the hubs being available for 8, 9 and 10 speed shimano so going by that, it's possible yes. Looking at other sites, they state 10 speed only. I take it you are talking Shimano, mind you Campag 9 and 10 speed also.

I can't comment on the hubs but I have Excellight rims on Ultegra Hubs on my winter bike and I love these wheels. Very smooth braking and feel very solid. They look nice too! IMO0

PMP have their own specific lockring and remover. Do NOT lose this remover. Also there is a specific lockring for 11t cassettes (eg 11-23)M.Rushton0

Thanks Giant Man, I just found this link too, as you say Pmp make two shimano hubs, a 10 speed only and an 8-9-10 speed compatible version. I have to keep my fingers crossed the seller knows which he has or I'll have to pass on them.0
