lokking for new mtb

hi guys,
i am looking to spend about 400 on a new bike for off and on road use
i was looking at GT, SPECIALIZED, or CARRERA
any suggestions?

I'm just moving off my GT Agressor 2, which was slightly above your budget, that I bought from halfords October last year. I'm a light trail user and it's been out once or twice a week almost every week. However, in that time I had snapped chains, cluncky derailier. Two snapped hangers and one bashed mech. Oh, and the adjustment knob for the forks fell off. It's also rather heavy. I'm hoping investing in a better speced bike will help.

Hi, if your looking at specialized then there's the 2012 hardrock disc for £420 it's a little over your budget but if you wait a bit I'm sure it'll come down, and there's also the hardrock sport disc 2011 for £369.99 both on Evans cycles and there's the Carrera vulcan 2011 for £399.99 on halfords website.

I registerd just to tell you this! I found this GT avalanche from Evans http://www.evanscycles.com/products/gt/avalanche-20-disc-2011-mountain-bike-ec024767 . Now I know it is way over your budget but, using this code when buying PPEJUWEFWKCG gets you the bike for £410. I got it by price matching from wiggle.com where the GT avalanche is £410. If the code does not work just ask them instore when you go to buy the bike to price check it and you should get it for £410. I put a £50 reservation on my GT at Evans before I price checked and I just simply phone them up and they were able to change it to the cheaper price.
