cube ltd race or Boardman ht pro?

Hi all. Just trading in my starter bike, a gt aggressor 2. Can't decide whether to go with a Cube or Boardman. I have a grand to spend so both fit the bill. Both look nice bikes, but could do with some guidance.Any thoughts? Its mostly trail that I do, no fast down hills!

I have just picked up a Boardman today! I was thinking the same and went for the Boardman Pro. The guys at halfords were brilliant as well! So far love my new bike!0

That's good to hear. My wife has a Boardman road bike and a Boardman mountain bike. She loves them. A bit worried about being seen with his and hers bikes

Mmm had same thought in the summer: as you can see for me it was the cube.
Can you go see and sit on both as I did.
Just found the boardman bland in looks and style and didn't want the same Mtb as everyone else down at the trails.
Oh and the boardman is not lighter.
The cube is a bit more xc race set up whilst the boardman is happier on the trails.
I stepped up from a carerra kraken and I'm absolutely loving the cube ... It's more than all the bike I'll ever need.MY CUBE

Just looked at the specs and the cube comes in at 11.9kg and the boardman 11.56kg. My gt's spec says its weight is 12.7kg, but I know it is actually 14kg (measured using handy luggage scales). So can specs be relied upon to give a true representation of weight?
Most of my cycling is done on trails and fire roads. Some muddy cross country, but mostly defined tracks. And, since breaking my collarbone in June (fell off on a gentle decline!), no "serious" downhills. Does that make a decision easier?0 -
i weighed my boardman size large with wellgo mg1s it was just over 25 lb hope this helps you0

At WMB we weighed the Boardman at 11.5kg.

So, 340 grammes and a slightly better fork might just steal it for the boardman. But the cube does look nicer!0

Well, I had elected to go with the Boardman, but the ride to work scheme I'm with doesn't super Halfords! So it looks like it'll have to be the cube. Its still a good bike even if it is a bit heavier and its still a long way ahead of my GT. Will let you know how I get on, thanks.0

You sound disappointed ?? That cube is totally lush and stealth is sexy. The combined weight of your riding gear will be more than the weight difference so just ride nakey and win!0

I agree with Supersonic.
The Boardman is lighter and has a better spec.
I'd rather have a better spec for the money and a lighter bike than one which just has a flashy colour scheme.
Hope you get on with the Cube.Constantly trying to upgrade my parts.It is a long road ahead as things are so expensive for little gain. n+1 is always the principle in my mind.0 -
Which parts on the boardman have a better spec?
They look quite similarly specced to me
X9 vs XT
Both have a great fork
Personally I prefer Shimano brakes to the ones on the Boardman
Cube has much better finishing kit, Easton Vs OE Boardman own brand stuff which you have no idea on the quality or weight of
Cube warranty is 2 years, as is Boardman but on top of the 2 year warranty Cube offer an additional 3 year crash replacement scheme
Both are decent bikes, but I know which one I'd buy

The oe Boardman stuff is surprisingly light! Easton Ea30 is lardy stuff.0
