How do?
Had a look through n used the search function but couldn't find an answer so i am asking. Sorry if its been answered recently n i havent found it.
Anyhoo- I have a 3x9 gear setup on my bike and my shimano chain that came with it has snapped. i used a quick link to fasten it together n a couple of weeks later it snapped again, so i put in another quick link. I have only had the bike 6 months so this seems a bit excessive. I went to my LBS and they gave me ( i say gave, i had to pay) a KMC x9 chain. I fitted this chain yesterday n went for a spin last night. I have found that whenever i try to put any power down the chain skips but just spinning normally it is ok. Something i noted is that the new chain has slightly bigger links on it but is meant to be a 9 speed chain. Any ideas on the problem or why the shimano chain and the KMC chain are different link sizes?

if the speed is correct then it is correct.
size it by putting it arround the two big cogs and add a link. (no rear mech) see park tools.
it may not be a chain issue."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Tried it, still skipping, got very frustrated. Put old chain back on, no skipping. Gonna leave the old one on n just take more split links out when i go riding.

Your cogs have worn to the pitch of the old chain.0

how many miles had the old chain and your cassette done...
my guess would be the cassette has worn with the old chain and it is causing the new chain to skip....
i had a kmc chain and shimano drivetrain on one of my bikes for 3 plus years it never skipped once....
should of measured your old chain to see how much it had stretched first before replacing just the chain..www.bearbackbiking.com

You need new cassette. Stretched chain probably destroyd it.0
