Wheel Truing Advice?

I need the wheels trued on my old HT and rather than paying to get it done I'm going to have crack at it myself.
I'm not going to go to the expense of getting a truing stand, I'll just do it in the frame and I'm looking for some pointers.
I've looked on the usual sites like Park Tools and Sheldon Brown and read up about how to true the wheel. Are there any other sites worth looking at first before I attempt it?

I recently tried the same. Spent about £10 on the tools as I got a two different sized keys. Then spent an hour trying to true up the front wheel using cable ties that kept moving. Got no where and got very frustrated. So took it to the local bike shop who charged me £15 for it.
While I prefer to learn to do everything myself, sometimes it's better to let someone else do it who has the proper tools.0 -
have a read of the how too on Sheldon Browns pages."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Patience. You need a lot of patience. Not a job to try and do quickly.
1 make SMALL adjustments
2 if the spokes do not twist when you turn the nipples, you have to compensate0 -
Roger Mussons book (available as download) is pretty good, but also shows you how to make a pretty decent truing jig from parts easily available at the local DIY store.A Flock of Birds
