Which £700 hardtail?

Hi all,
New to the forum and a little out of touch with the MTB world. Used to do a.lot with my Santa Cruz Chameleon, but sold that a few years ago after I stacked it and broke my leg..
I've recently joined the cycle to work scheme and decided to get back in the saddle again. I should soon be receiving a voucher for £600 and am wondering which bike to get. I'm more concerned about getting reasonable components than a top of the line frame. I have seen the Boardman HT Comp and love it... Unfortunately it is only sold by Halfords and my employers scheme doesn't allow me to buy from there.
Any ideas gents?
Thanks.

Yep, I have a huge list of bike shops about 10 or so that are local. The others may mail order anyway, but some of the lesser known brands may be a bit tricky to find.
I've looked at the cube acid, Giant xtc and they seem reasonable spec for the money. I would however like a white (colour) frame, I have a bit of a thing for white with Black wheels. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice.
Seen a nice Cannondale at about 600 the components are a bit poo at that price.
Thanks guys.0 -

You should go for a bike with a better frame, components can be changed and upgraded as and when they wear/fail but a rubbish frame will always be a rubbish frame even with full XTR/XX kit on it.0 -
There are no rubbish frames at this price. Plenty of rubbish forks/cranks/wheels/tyres/etc though!0
