Hey
I just want to know what peoples opinions are on these 2.
I have the option of either a 2012 120mm Reba RL 9mmQR or a 2011 100mm SID RLT 9mmQR for only 20 quid difference. What would you recommend would be a better buy bearing in mind i ride general cross country in the cheviots?

The Reba is a little heavier, but stiffer. However the RLT has a better damper in the SID.

Cheers Supersonic. So for the type of riding that I do, which I guess would come under the heading of just general trails which do you think would be the better purchase? the SID is only £20 more expensive than the Reba.
Do you really notice the difference in the stiffness?

Fat people do lol! Or the muscular ;-)

SID for me as that damper is a bette bet.
  • for just general XCing, i.e no crazy rough downhills at high speed, id say go for the SID's. better damping as said and a bit lighter i think which is always a bonus.

Cheers think that's the choice then! I'm neither fat or extremely muscular so should be fine! Unless people class 12 stone as fat then I'm a porker haha

I have exactly the same SID you are on about and find its pretty solid. I'm very impressed with it thought it would be a lot flexier but it has coped very well.

I weight about 13 .5 stone and use the bike for general XC stuff, mostly woodland single track type stuff. At times I have been quite aggressive with the bike when trying to keep up with my metal riding buddy. While you can feel the slight flex it doesn't noticeably affect my cornering or steering. In the heat of the moment you really don't notice it you just get on with having fun. Its only if you are purposefully trying to analyse the ride and feel will you notice the flex and that's only when being aggressive with the bike.

Im also with the opinion that quality is better than quantity so would prefer to go for the better damper in the SID.

Cheers for that! That has definitely made my mind up! SID will be ordered tonight. Great to know it can stand some abuse!

Great to know! Ordered mine tonight but now have to wait till Christmas till I'm allowed to fit them!!!
Also paid less than £300 for them which I would like to think is a bit of a bargain.

Yeah with Merlins 10% VIP discount and also 5% cashback through Quidco came to a rather reasonable £297. Cant wait to get them on and riding. Hopefully make a considerable difference to the Magura Vidar currently on the front end.
Quick question though I have Avid Elixir R brakes with an IS adapter on, I think I remember someone saying all their calipers are PM. If I am running a 185mm rotor will I need another adaptor or will caliper just fit straight on?

Most PM mounts are direct fit for 160mm, so you will need a PM to PM adaptor for 185mm. About a fiver from CRC or Superstar.
