Gore Ride on Problems

Not long ago i fittted a set of Gore sealed cables to my bike, up to now i have been very impressed. However the other day while doing my post ride clean i noticed the liner seems to have streched and is sticking to far through the rear derailer. I checked to see if it had pulled through at the shifter end and it hasn't so i can only think it has streched. The front one seems to have done the same aswell. Does anyone now if this normal on the Gore system?.

This will happen if the outer housing segments were not properly seated in at the cablestops - it's not that the liner has stretched, it's more like the outer housing has compressed into a shorter length.
This is normal with all cable systems if you don't do the pre-stretch tensioning bit at installation time.
Of course, it could also be that there is a break at some point along the length of the continuous liner.0 -
pretty sure i seated all the outers properly, besides if that were the case wouldn't i loose cable tension? which i haven't, still shifting fine. thanks for the input i may try contacting Gore to see what they say.0

The lining on the inner cable on mine lasted 8 months then started peeling, I no longer use ride on for this reason.Don't think, BE:0

I haven't seen that happen myself. The coating on the inner stainless steel cables does peel at where the cables are clamped after several months, but I have never seen it migrate past the grub seals.
The lining is made of a very tough slippery plastic material so I doubt that it would peel without any external damage caused by grazes against other rough surfaces.
I run this cable system myself and install them for other people as well. I get on average 5 years of usage out of them before I even need to check for issues that could be caused by cables. One of my bikes has been running them for 8 years and still going strong; my daily commuter 3 years so far - and I don't shy away from hip deep submersions, mud caking and the occasional clean.
Easily the best cable system and the only one that is completely waterproof (as opposed to being water resistent like the Alligator iLinks, Nokon, Avid/SRAM Ripcords, Shimano Yumeya, and other ghetto cable systems which I have used before).0
