Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

After 8 years loyal service I've just been given my marching orders :(

3rd ever job and 3rd time of being made redundant :x

May be an offer of an alternative role but less money and potentially less hours. = no cycling money.

Hope to find out in next couple of days

That sucks! I was hit with redundancy nearly three years ago, six days before xmas when the company went under.

Good luck, which ever way the dice roles for you...

    Loyalty sucks.
When my last job left town, I took a few months off to go touring but its been hard getting back into the commuting saddle.

I hope it works out for you.

  • I've never had the mis-fortune of redundancy so I've been very lucky (lived with the threat of it on several occasions though). Hope it turns out well for you, unfortunately you're far from alone.

    All the best.

  • Sorry to hear this.

Chin up, keep on moving, plenty of new opportunities for you. You're not alone.

What a bummer - hope you find something soon. Been there myself (twice) and each time it worked out better for me - I hope you're as lucky.

  • Been there, done that, T-shirt etc!
The problems start, when you get dumped out several times, in fairly short time, then the cv looks bad, you get worse jobs & round and round the plughole you go!

It's a shit thing to happen at a shite time, i got made reduntant 30 mths ago after 20 yrs of service, it never really hit home until i got the letter. I was lucky though because the wife has a good job and i'm now at home with 2 children under 3 hanging out with bored housewifes.

    Phew!!!

Looks like I'll being staying on but in a lesser role. Less money and only a 32 hours a week throughout January.

Will finish dec 16th ish then back in janusry so plenty of cycling (or male escorting)

Certainly pays to know a little about a lot at work :-)

Just think of it as more riding time, either way. Glad you're not on the dole, anyway.
  • I've been given the news this morning I've probably got 6 months to a year. The company I work for bought another company a couple of years ago, and slowly and steadily they've been moving 'our' customers onto 'their' system.

Ironically most of the staff working for the company we bought originally worked for my current company. So the people who left for richer pastures are now back, in charge, and sacking the people who stayed loyal to the original company. 20 years loyal service counts for nothing :x

    Work is sh!t.

Being made redundant is twice as sh!t.
  • Same here been with the company 9 years, was told last week will be facing redundancy. May be out at the end of December if they decided to let me go early but would be payed up till end of March, so a three month window to find another job.
Like you have only had 4 jobs but have been made redundant twice and faced it once before but was saved at the last min. No jobs for life anymore unless your in politics !
