Chain is slipping so time for a new cassette and chain fot the winter bike. Just bought a tiagra rear cassette and have used SRAM PC951 chains in the past. Any recommendations for a different chain at around £20? Looking for durability as the major consideration for this bike.

Try KMC. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=12756 (assuming you still have 9sp). Cheap, lasts as long or longer and shifts as well as ANY other chain brand. Also includes a re-usable masterlink. Shop around as you may even find a better price.0

cheers, found that KMC for £15 posted. Will give it a try.0

Also a vote for KMC. Much better than Shinano chains espically in Winter (I broke 2-3 shinano's last year in Winter). They do have a lovely "purring" sound0

...and another vote for KMC chains. Picked up a KMC X9L for my Allez, great chain, very quiet compared to the Shimano HG53. Was a penny under £20.2012 Scott CR1 SL

i can recommend Wipperman chains too - they usually come with a quick link which is ideal for winter cleaning
