Each sub-forum seems to be getting filled up with spam sales posts for various products all from one poster. Is this some sort of spam attack?!

Saw that this morning. Hope phpBB (the forum software) has improved since I last used it. You always used to have to tidy this sort of thing up post by post rather than deleting the user and subsequently all of their posts in one go.0

it has but we then have issue of posters replying to the spam saying spam or other pointless comments that then have to be removed one by one and as the reported post has gone then are a right pain.
So Please report spam and do not reply to them as it is a pain.

Deleting the first post in a thread should delete the whole thread in one go,regardless of replies.
I don't know what your forum is like for mod/admin control but there should be thread tools and post tools options. vbulletin can do it,no reason why phpbb can't either.0 -
that is not what i said. when we delete the users posts that is exactly what it does so any crap posted in the thread stays there"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Deleting posts and deleting threads is different0 -
I thought the BR was really slow for a time yesterday and thought it was down to spam - but apparently it was due to another glitch. On FB BR posted that the spam was bigger than they thought (60,000+ posts) and thats why it was off for the best part of a week - I honestly never thought spam could clog up a system like that. Shame on you Veronica Nicely and your tempting offer of 2 packets of Viagra. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

If anything, it messed with my head - I popped on to Workshop to tell someone to throw their Ultremos into next doors garden and to use a torque wrench - the next I knew its a list of Ugg boots and vaginas.
Thought I'd stumbled into the average small English town's market stall list, but it seems thats its a bigger force at work here.0 -

Chaps at BR...are there plans afoot to stop the repeated spam attacks? Perhaps something as simple as a two phase new user login process like some of the other sites (where one has to get authenticated before posting)??
Notice we had another outbreak yesterday and then again this morning. I don't now about anyone else but I am beginning to go off Ugg boots, at least until they stick cleats on the bottom.0 -

True, innitially i hoped they would only target the MTB forums, but if that had been the case i wouldn't have got all of them 'Charm Braceletts' for Christmas presents.0 -
