I do about 60% road biking however the rest cross country, is there any good and cheap mtb 26 inch tyres, £30 max?

What sort of 'cross country' defines what tyres will suite! You didn't really tell us anything, and cooldad did answer the question you asked rather than the one you intended to ask.
