Tyre pressures

OK, I do know this is kind of 'how long is a piece of string' question, but what tyre pressures should I be running:-
100mm Fork Hardtail, running with tubes, Schwalbe smart sam on the front (26x2.1) and Panaracer Fire XC pro (26x1.8 ) on the rear now it's gloopy, I reckon on running no less than 30psi in the tyres, but one of the guys I ride with, his tyres feel like he's running about 15psi so who's got it wrong?

I guess when it's gloopy the right answer is as low a pressure as you can get away with, but obviously deflations are a PITA!

    looked in the FAQs.

there is no correct answer but 15 is too low for an average person with average sized tyres on an average trail.

As low as you can get away with without getting pinch flats would be my answer :D

30 psi seems like a good starting point. Especially with a skinny tyre on the back.

I add a bit more to the rear, as that takes more punishment, but I am not a lightweight

  • I run 30 on the front and 35 on the back, not sure if this is ideal but it seems to work for me being rotund fellow!

OK thanks, I'm just on 12st and have a relatively light riding style, so I'll stick with the 30 rear and try a little lower on the front maybe.
