Just seen the announcement of the 2012 running of the "proper" P-R sportive. But... It is now 210 km and starting in Bohain, not the usual 260 km from Compiegne.

Anyone know why?

  • Strange... I did it in 2010 from Bohain and it was 180 Km, not 210...

That said, it's got all the pave, so you don't really miss much

  • I am fine with doing shorter distance it means I will get a beer at the end a bit quicker.
    74 miles or 130 miles
Surely 130 miles on the cobbles is enough for any amateur.

I have never done this event and I am thinking of entering is it good ?

Still 54km of pave on the new route - you'll hit the first secteur at Troisville after about 40km, shortly after the control at Solesmes, but it probably won't make much difference to the pain you'll endure by the end of the day. From Arenberg on, there is 10+km of pave for each 40km -
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
