I have been looking at a new pair of shoes and have narrowed it down to the either the Shimano AM41 or the AM45.
No LBS has stock of either shoe but I have managed to try on a pair and they do seem to fit my wide feet.
I usually use flats so the AM41 seem to be the way to go.
However the Shimano site does not mention if they have a reinforced sole, as the AM45 has.
Have any of you guys out there used the AM41 and could comment on the shoe. Thanks jas.

I have a pair of AM41s and the sole is not very stiff. I also have some Shimano SPD X-C shoes and they are far stiffer than the 41s. It took my feet a while to get used to the additional flex. They stick well on my flat pedals (Blackspire sub4s) but they don't have a lot of grip on say, wet grass, but I doubt any flats would. They are very comfortable, have kept my feet pretty warm and the lace flap keeps out the occasional splash. I normally wear euro size 43 shoes but I had to go up to 44 on the AM41s.

Don't the AM41's come with a stiffer insole insert like the AM40's did?
