2nd hand choices

I was initially looking to buy new, something along the lines of the Boardman HT Pro, but after being hit with a fairly big bill recently, my attentions have been turned to the 2nd hand market.
I'm currently looking at 2 bikes as below:
1. - 2011 Genesis Core 40, standard with Recons, SLX, Alex rims etc etc. Looks a decent bike and has had little off road usage. Its priced at £500
2. - 2005 Orange Evo4 which is an alloy frame, with Reba 120mm SLs, XT gearing, Raceface crank, new Cane Creek headset, dual duty rims and Shimano hubs. £375
The Genesis is obviously a lot newer, but with coil forks rather than the dual air Reba's on the Orange. The renowned workmanship of Orange is also swaying me in favour of the older bike. Both are in very good overall condition and have clearly been looked after.
Planning on riding them both to see which I prefer.

I used to sell the genesis bikes and they are really good quality no nonsense bikes.
The orange will most likely have an isis bottom bracket and they are crap and wear out quickly, cant really comment on the other spec as i dont think its as standard, is it?
personally i would go for the core but try to get £50 knocked off the price0 -
Yep I would go with the genesis....especially as it's only seen the road...the Orange 7 years old so I would stay well clear.0
