Not new stuff you've purchased but a thread to post up new bits of tech, gadget and innovations.

Wanted to start by saying oooo, the new Küat Bottle lock might be going in my Crimbo list, am too lazy to carry a lock generally but this might do the trick for short trips to the pub etc.

  • Yup - I was impressed by that for the same sort of reason. Also was interested in the Conti TopContact Winter 2 tyres in the same article on here that reviewed the lock http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/j ... yond-32327

Want. You need to post it on the SCR Christmas thread.
    FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.
  • I can't help thinking that retracting a 5 foot cable with a little winder is going to be a truly epic PITA, far more than carrying a different lock.

Also, how well does it stand up to thieves?

Interested to see how there are on sheet ice. The studded tyres are fantastic but I know this style of tyre on my road car works brilliantly too

I'll be avoiding sheet ice as much as possible (fell and broke collar bone last december ..) but keen to see how they handle winter conditions for sure.

when I first ran Ice Spikers I did some "controlled tests" (unclipped, slow speed, ready for anything...) on sheet ice just to see how they behaved (brilliantly and entirely undramatic as it happens). So when I came across 20 metres of refrozen meltwater covering the road I was on doing 20 mph, I didn't panic too much....

are these snow/ice tyres ok to stick on my roadie? I can barely squeeze my 23c tyres between the brake calipers!

    In a word: No

I love my ice tyres but it still scares the shit out of me riding over ice.

and that lock, seriously wouldnt a silk ribbon be more effective?

so how do i take my roadie in the snow/ice? And hoping the answer isnt 'wear crampons and carry it'

In my opinion (and painful experience) is don't take it out. Others will say different. It's why I have bought a cross bike to fit Marathon Winters. Previously I've commuted on an MTB on Ice Spikers
