Fitted some new sintered pads to my rear caliper, going to work today and noticed I didn't have the same stopping power is this because they need bedding in or could this be a fault with the pads, got them off eBay, they were reasonably cheap is there a difference in pads or are one brand as good as the other.

Ive been running superstar sintered pads in my XT's for a while now and although i'm not a fan of the brakes anyway the pads dont do it for me. Once theyre nice and warm the stopping power is immense, however until that point they are anything but good.
Unless you ride a lot of fast technical stuff i'd go kevlar or organic myself! The Frog: Lapierre Zesty 214 2010 - Upgraded - W.I.P0 -
i found SS sintered weren't good in my saints, like you say they took an age to warm up, and the way I ride they don't stay hot enough! Kevlars however I think are top notch and always use them now0

Sintered pads are do not slow you down as well as resin, but will last longer.0

Not sure if anyone can confirm, but if you change from resin to sintered pads (I'm assuming the OP has done this) you need to thoroughly clean the rotor before bedding in the new pads. This is to clear the old pad material from the rotor. In fact, I'm sure I've read that you should do this every time you replace pads, even if they're the same type. I've always followed this and give the rotors a thorough scrubbing with toothbrush/clean rag and IPA before bedding in the pads.0

Did a bit of steep stuff downwards, pads now bedded in and seem to be doing the job, they do grab better the longer they seem to be on thoughwork hard, play hard, fall hard
