Following on from the success of the well established Drumlanrig Challenge, plans are now well advanced for a further 2 events in support of the Christian relief and development charity Tearfund.

The new events are planned from Aberdeen and from Fort William

The Drumlanrig event will be on it's usual first Saturday in May (so that's the May 5th in 2012).

The probable date for the Aberdeen event is August 25th and we plan to have a long and a shorter route around the Dee Valley.

We hope to hold the Fort William event after the midge season on September 15th. The route is a fantastically scenic 100 miler to the West of Fort William. All three will be supported by local churches so copious supplies of home baking can be expected at he feed stations.

Publicity and full details are still being worked out, but updated information on all three events will be posted on http://www.drumlanrigchallenge.btck.co.uk

I would certainly be interested in Aberdeen. The proposed date is unlikely to clash with my holidays as well - so I'll watch this space.
  • Like the sound of the Fort William run, I've never really been out through Glenfinnan and on toward Ardnamuchan

date now confirmed. 5th May for Drumlanrig. 25th August Aberdeen and now 22nd September for Fort Wiliam.

Entry for Aberdeen and Fort William likly to be via Entrycentral.com soon.

I'm still thinking of the best way to deal with the Drumlanrig entries, since it sold out so quickly last year. I'm thinking by ballot with entry guaranteed for 2013 to those who enter and don't get in.

How about early entry for those that have done the event before (not that that includes me!)

I think early entry for riders that have done the event before is definitely a good idea.
I've already arranged my holidays so that I'm off on the 5th May, so wouldn't want to miss out in a ballot.

Dave, do you think you could squeeze another 100 riders into this event. The roads are very quiet around Drumlanrig and I have never seen any problems with traffic, unlike other sportives I have been on.
There's always enough great food to feed an army of ravenous cyclists :-)
