Avid Juicy Ultimate bleed issue

All, I have tried to bleed my rear Juicy Ultimate but when I push the syringe down on the rear caliper its solid?. I have made sure that both clamps are open but to no avail.
Someone suggested undoing the hose at the lever pushing down on the syringe and wait for the fluid to come through before installing again.
Is there any reason why the syringe wont budge?.

Not sure: are you using the avid pdf guide, or the Youtube version? The latter seems to work better for many people.0

The Youtube version, followed it to T but the rear caliper syringe is solid and wont budge at all?. Totally confused but don't want to give up"I rock with my socks on"0
