Joints clicking and crunching

Hello :D

Over the past month or so I have noticed that my joints have suddenly started clicking really badly - not much pain, sometimes a dull ache, but a really loud CRACK sound :shock:

I've seen my GP about a bad back and mentioned this also, he wasn't remotely interested sadly and no suggestions as to what it is or how to stop it. Any ideas? It's happening regularly and started literally overnight.....

Cheers!

  • I would advise striping the joint down, cleaning it out and filling with grease, if then problem persists get a good mechanic/surgeon to replace the joint with a carbon fibre one
  • which joints? popping or cracking is normally a result of a ligament moving over a bony surface and can be completely normal. Popping or crunching within a joint may not be so benign...

    Shoulders, thumbs, toes, knees, hips...... :?

    My knees have always crunched and clicked a bit, but I have never had this with my other joints before. And it literally came on so suddenly!

    Something very weird is happening - my shoulder crunched in bed this morning, my arm then felt odd all mroning and the muscles in my thumb are now bloody painful!! I have no idea what's going on :(

    As I sadi above, i've been to see my GP and he's not interested as he thinks it's muscular. I just don't know what else I can do though - I mean, i'm pretty fit, I eat well etc etc. And certainly nothing has dramatically changed in the last few months anyway to justify this suddenly starting.

    Hey ho. Maybe i'm just old :(

    Well, it looks like a rather strange outcome to this one.....!

    It seems that we came back from a previous exotic holiday with a bit more than we bargained for (no details in case anyone is eating :shock: ) - one of the symptoms of which is arthritis-type joint pain because of all the toxins :shock: :shock:

    Needless to say said exotic beasties have been dealt with, and I am starting to feel a lot better 8) I am also pretty much decided to never go anywhere interesting on holiday ever again :wink:

    I bet no-one expected that result :lol::lol:

    I wouldn't be so sure, have you eaten in any of those mountain restaurants ?
  • Stuff anyone eating. Weve been to the Maldives this year and my joints have been clicking. Spill the beanz
  • Maldives.
    Well known mountain biking / trekking / climbing location.

    Cracking joints can be down to air in the joint being cold. Not sure how this works, just someone told me once in the gym as I can't do any shoulder exercises 'til after other exercises such is the noise in my shoulder joints! Once the whole area is warmed up, post bench pressing, pull-ups etc, it is fine.

    Maldives is a better story though!

    Just seen these replies :lol::lol::lol:

    Maldives can be a dangerous place..... :wink: I'm not going into details, but mattyg google parasites from the indian subcontinent (apparently where they come from!) and you're on the right track! Grim.

    Apparently a side-effect of parasites is the joint problems (as well as tummy ache, headaches and all the other stuff) :shock:

    I still feel a bit funny but the joint clicking and crunching is much reduced!! Hooray!
