Ive just bought a 2011 lapierre zesty 314 frameset from a lad and have only just been told about a rider weight limit of 100kgs on these bikes??

anyone on here heavier than that and if so do you have any problems with your zesty??

how come lapierre are putting weight limits on their frames where the likes of specialized etc dont??

im 110 kgs so am a bit concerned!!

cheers

steve

Its a 140mm travel bike so its designed to take hits why would they limit the weight of a rider?
It could be the shock that has the limit your around 246lb,what shock is with the frame?

here is the quote from the 2012 manual .....

using your bike in riding conditions other than those described to the right may cause your bike or its component
parts to deteriorate prematurely. Lapierre bikes are designed for people weighing up to 100kg (220 lbs).
Exceeding this weight limit could cancel the terms of the guarantee.

Ring Mojo or TFtuned and ask them if the shock will be ok with your weight.

i think you are getting confused buddy.

i know the shock will be ok as ive had these on my previous enduro,5 spot etc.

lapierre are saying the frame itself is limited to 100kg!!

hope that explains it a bit better

    cheers

I got a Zesty 514 and I weigh 76Kg but to be honest it's probably a way of voiding a warranty if as they have in the past had issues with cracked frames the first question they may ask is how heavy are you which is pretty crap really considering these aint cheap bikes, don't get me wrong I love my Zesty it's an awesome bike but I don't like manufacturers who pull stunts like this.

Knowing this would I buy another Lapierre, in a flash I think there fantastic and I'm on my third and no they didn't break

Take it Back. If you weren't told before purchase then its not a valid term of the supply contract.

Heard a horror story from a retailer where Lapierre had been requesting rider weight info and messing around on warranty.

Just an opinion but most things (Formula 1 cars etc are an exception) are engineered with a safety margin - 10% is not much. I would expect 25% minimum, I doubt it will disintegrate underneath you.

Your warranty is another issue - worry about it if it breaks, if you've bought it privately not much you can do now.

Obviously if you should happen to die, I take no responsibility for my uneducated opinion.
