Will it be a 2012 Trek?

Hi,
I was looking for any thoughts on this topic please. I have about £2500 to spend. I use to own a Trek Ex8 2010 and found this bike fantastic, but then again this was my first full susser. This purchase I am about to make may be the last one for a long time as I am on the cycle to work scheme but wont be with the company much longer.
I like riding cross country, muddy technical bits but have been increasing my skills and would like to try more with this next bike. Given my last experience with Bontrager wheels (Duster Tubeless Ready Rims) during winter with changing tyres, I would like to swop out the rims but try and keep budget (maybe £2800).
The three 2012 bikes I had in mind were Trek Ex8, Ex9 or Remedy 8. I am not clued up when it comes to bike spec as I cant see much difference between Ex8 or 9.
Although I am use to riding a trek, I would be open to other options in this price range and hoping that Evans stock the brand?
Any help, greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I am slightly biased but i would buy the remedy if it was my money, think of it as a more capable fuel ex.

Take a look at the Lapierre 514 Zesty awsome bike, I have owned a Trek EX8 and loved it but I hate Bontrager wheels and finishing kit but fames are great, I would buy Lapierre every day but Orange 5's. Specialized Stumpjumpers have a good rep aswell and with ya budget your gonna get a decent machine its just down to the way it fits you to be honest as you can have all the recomendations but unless your comfortable on it it's a pointless exercise so try and get ya choice down to say 3 or 4 bikes and then get to th shops that have them in stock and try them then if you like one try and get it cheaper online.Zesty 514 Scott Scale 20 GT Expert HalfwayupMTB0 -

Hi Stu, from what I have ready about the Stumpjumpers is that the BB is low but the bike looks good. The Zesty looks awesome but again like you said its a matter of how its going to fit. Unfortunately I don't like the way Orange bikes look but your suggestions have given me a platform to work from now. Thanks0 -

Would you consider a Zesty? I heard that some of the parts are only servisable by Lapierre...0 -
The EX8 is a good spec'd bike...it depends on how competent a rider you are if your going to bottom out a 130mm travel bike then the 150mm remedy is the best bet however if not the EX8 is a good choice...
I have seen guys on long travel bikes because they think it's cool and they look good but they can't ride for toffee, so be honest with yourself...
If your stuck with Evans
120/130mm
Trek EX8
Marin Mount Vision
Mondraker Factor RR
150mm
The Whyte 146s
Stumpy
Or the best of both a Ghost AMR + 7500 with Talas
Elsewhere the Cubes are great value and offer good components0 -

Can't find any info on the weight, Loads of options on other brands, Giant Reign X, Stumpy or Enduro, or you could build your own.0 -

Same here all parts readily avaliable although I don't do any servicing due to being crap and always having spare parts left once i think i'm finished, but my LBS gets any job done quickly without ordering anythingZesty 514 Scott Scale 20 GT Expert HalfwayupMTB0
