Totally Unnecessary Cover Versions

Right, if you're going to cover a song, then you owe it to yourself to make it AT LEAST AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL....
An example of this would be Johnny Cash ripping off Nine Inch Nails and "Hurt". Some divots think Cash wrote this, the original is still better IMHO but he had a good crack at it.
Which brings me to today, listening to R6 at home...and a song by The The from 1983's "Soul Mining" album called "This Is The Day". Awesome track from a great album which was ahead of it's time. And it's just been murdered by the Manic Street Preachers. Sounds like some drivel you'd hear on PopIdolFactorXTalent. What a bunch of talentless cnuts....WHY????!!!!!
So, vent your spleen and tell us what track p*sses you off....

Not at all needed for such an awesome track, the Mike Shinoda/Linkin Park esque modern electro feel just adds another dimension, the video is really well done too.0 -

Some gobby girl from X Factor covered Cohen's Hallelujah a year or so ago, and it has ruined any enjoyment I once took from the song.

I can't tell you who covered it, but some woman butchered Bohemian Rhapsody.
It was many years ago, Radio 1 played it a few times, then it died a deserving death.
Truly dreadful.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -
