I was thinking of calling it 'Saville' :P
Only joking, you should never give a bike a name.Road Bike; http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12727419

Lovely bike you got there mate, really lovely. Glad to see you're still using the mtb pedals.0

Crazy how times change isn't it?
The latest on the bike:
Specification is largely unchanged. New additions/ changes include:
FSA SLK carbon crankset
Roval SL45 wheels
Ultegra Cassette (yet to arrive)
Fizik Microtex dual bar tape
Van nicholas Ti seatpost
GP4000S tyres
Stainless bottle cages
Cateye V3 computer - HR and Cad
Deda parabolica flat Aero bars (because we all know flat looks best)
Speedplay Stainless pedals (yet to arrive)
And most importantly, an own design bottom bracket!
Wont bore you with the details on that too much but basically the old Kleins never had a threaded BB shell. They used a press fit bearing held in with locktite and an axle with square tapered ends would then sit inside that, again held in with locktite. This was a problem as I hated the previous StrongLight cranks and wanted something a bit better. Really liked the look of the Tune ones but are a nightmare to track down. In the end gave up and decided to convert it fora modern style external or hollotech bottom bracket. Just a couple of cups like you get with a modern external BB but without the threads, you just press them in instead of threading them in. Simples. Simples except they are not commercially available so I hwad to design and organise manufacture myself. But that's no big job for someone in my line of work as a design engineer!

See no threads:

Nice job with the BB though, how long did it take to get it done in the end?0
-
Thinking about it took me about an hour, about 40 minutes sourcing bearings etc. online. Drawing it up took about 15 minutes after I had the idea in my head. Actual machine time will have been around 10 minutes. Fitting it took about 5 minutes. But in total the project has lasted about 5 weeks as the machine shop were snowed under (ohoho see what I did there?) so it should have been faster.
It will probably last about 5 minutes :PRoad Bike; http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12727419
